Welcome to the Mothers of Preschoolers ministry at First Baptist Church of Frisco, Texas.
Q: When are your meetings?
A: We meet on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of every month and follow the Frisco ISD calendar. Childcare is provided and begins at 9:15am and ends at 12:15pm. Meetings begin with brunch at 9:30am and end at 12:00pm.
Q: Where do you meet?
A: Meetings are held in the south building at FBC Frisco located at 7901 Main Street, Frisco, TX 75034. MOPPETS is located in the north building in the Preschool wing.
Q: What goes on at a typical meeting?
A: Our meetings alternate between guest speakers and crafts. Speakers range from a variety of topics but always concern a subject related to this stage of motherhood such as: marriage, discipline, raising Godly children, nutrition & health, home organization, and personal finance. Crafts are a great way to get creative and have fun with our Mom friends. Each meeting includes time for brunch, table discussion and prayer. Twice per year childcare is extended as each table goes to a local restaurant for lunch!! We also have special events such as a Christmas party in the Fall and “Tea & Testimony” in the Spring.
Q: Are there any events outside of your regular meeting schedule?
A: Yes. Each table will coordinate play-dates for their members at least once per month. There is also an occasional MOPS wide play-date as well as Mom’s night out! Each table may have additional activities planned for their group. We further provide the opportunity to participate in service projects throughout the year.
Q: What do my membership dues include?
A: Total dues for the 2011-2012 year is $125. Each mother is registered with MOPS International where she will receive all the benefits of membership including a 1 year subscription to MOMSense Magazine and a welcome packet! The remainder of membership fees is used to obtain speakers, buy craft supplies, and pay our administrative costs. Membership also includes childcare!! Dues are the same for each member regardless of how many children are registered for MOPPETS. If you are interested in joining us mid-term, contact Janel Bains for further information.
Q: What if I do not need childcare for my preschoolers during MOPS meetings?
A: Not all MOPS mothers have their children enrolled in MOPPETS. It is not a requirement to have your preschoolers enrolled; however, the membership fee for 2011-2012 year will not be reduced as a result of no children being registered with MOPPETS.
Q: How do I join?
A: Complete the registration form and send it with your payment to the address at the top of the page. You will then be contacted by our membership coordinator. Registration in our MOPS program is open to any and all mothers of preschoolers!
Q: I’ve heard that you are required to participate in fundraisers to be a part of MOPS. Is this true?
A: No. There is no requirement for either participation in fundraisers or service projects to join or maintain your membership in MOPS. While we do provide opportunities for service, our main goal as a group is encouragement, fellowship, and friendship for our fellow Moms.
Q: I’m new to the area and don’t know anyone. How will MOPS benefit me?
A: Joining MOPS is a great way to get adjusted to your new home and meet new people! It provides a welcoming and fun environment to meet other Moms with children the same age as your own. When you join MOPS you will be assigned a table. This will introduce you to a small group of Moms whom you will get to know throughout the year. Your child will also benefit from the Christian based curriculum of our MOPPETS program while getting some fun time to play with other children and giving Mommy some necessary adult time! Q: What if I would like to join a MOPS group but I cannot meet on Wednesday mornings?

Getting connected with other Moms is a big part of helping you deal with these wonderful but sometimes trying preschool years! We hope that you find a group that can be an encouragement to you!
